| Accused teacher denied bail in rape case | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 20: Principal Sessions Judge Ramban MA Choudhary today rejected the bail application of Joginder Singh S/O Shadi Lal R/O Perihote Tehsil & District Doda a Govt teacher who was allegedly involved in rape with student of 8th class. As per prosecution case the applicant/accused being Teacher in Govt. Middle School Hiller on September 7, 2012 had abducted a thirteen year old girl student of 8th Class and on September 11, 2012 a missing report was lodged by her father at Police Station Ramban. The girl on return had told that on September 6, 2012 School teacher had told her to come to Chanderkot and he will take her to Jammu where she will be provided scholarship. She told that accused administered her something at Chanderkot and took her to Jammu and used to commit rape on her. After investigation of the case a chargesheet for the commission of offences punishable under sections 366 and 376 RPC was laid and this Court is yet to frame the charge in the case. While rejecting the bail application, Principal Sessions Judge Ramban MA Choudhary after hearing Public Prosecutor GN Manhas for the state whereas Adv BA Runiyal for the applicant, observed that The accused is a Teacher by profession and has been accused of sexually assaulting a girl student of tender age by taking her all along to Jammu by keeping her in a hotel. The offences are grievous in nature and the grant of bail to the accused at this stage will send a wrong signal in the society eroding the very confidence of the public in the criminal justice system. With these observations Court rejected the bail application of Joginder Singh. |
