| Inquiry against cop for molesting University student also goes haywire | | 'DSP gave clean chit to accused SHO...?' | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 20: A University girl student namely Vinisa Chisti, resident of Kashmir, now in New Delhi, was molested in Gandhi Nagar police lock up by then SHO, now promoted as DSP and posted as SDPO somewhere in Kathua last year.
The girl in her complaint alleged that she was molested by cop in police station Gandhi Nagar.She alleged that she was student of Jawahar University and was sitting with his foreign friends in JU's cafeteria when some miscreants started passing comment on her. Reacting on the comment she slapped the miscreants which caused quarrel between them. In the meantime the SHO Gandhi Nagar appeared with some cops. He took her to the police station and pumped her breast thrice.
On her complaint to Chief Secretary of the state, an inquiry was started by DySP rank person on direction of then DIG, but amazingly, the cop under charges of molestation was awarded with medal. It is also alleged that the cop under allegation, being close confidante of senior police officer was reportedly given clean chit and got scot free. In an inquiry report it is mentioned by Inquiry Officer hat the girl was remained in custody for two hours only and was later bailed out. The inquiry report further amused the girl complainant as she was said to have remained in police custody for a short duration.
Taking advantage of inquiry report's finding that she remained in police custody for two hours only, the alleged accused cop was given clean chit. The inquiry report is nothing but mere eyewash. If the experts are to be believed, re -inquiry should be ordered by government or police department so that truth could prevail and justice meted out to the aggrieved.
Pertinent to mention here that the alleged cop being influential person enjoyed all prize posting during his tenure of SHO and on being promoted he enjoyed two prize postings.He was transferred to some battalion in Channi Himmat as DySP.Ater few days he was transferred to DySP Dar somewhere in hilly district and here again with in few days he was transferred and posted as SDPO in his hometown in district Kathua. |
