| `1109 transformers were repaired by PDD workshop' | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Dec 20: The Power Development Department (PDD) suffers huge loses during winter as a number of transformers get damaged. According to the data furnished by PDD's central workshop In the Pampore area of District Pulwama, during the current financial year 1109 completely damaged transformers across Kashmir were sent for repairs. During the month of November only 141 completely damaged transformers were sent to the said workshop, while as the number registers an increase as winter sets in. The data reveals that 4-6 transformers are sent to this central workshop daily and the process continues till March. The data also reveals that at the end of financial year 2011, 1611 completely damaged transformers from different Districts of Kashmir were sent to the said workshop for repairs. Sharing details executive officer of the central workshop, Tufail Musadiq Murtaza said that the winters remain a crucial period for PDD employees associated with this workshop because of the increasing number of completely damaged transformers received from different Districts of the valley. He added that keeping in view the work load, double shift system has been introduced. Engineers working in central workshop Pampore mostly deal with completely damaged transformers while as partially damaged transformers are repaired at district levels in government workshops also. |
