Rajendra distributes 61 sewing machines among BPL widows

SRINAGAR, Dec 20: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Armed and Law & Order, . K. Rajendra Kumar today distributed sewing machines among 61 widows at a function organised by Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police, at Naid Khai in Bandipora. The assistance was provided to the beneficiaries belonging to Below Poverty Line (BPL) category under Civic Action Programme of the Organisation. Elaborating the aims and objectives of the programme, Rajendra said that Jammu and Kashmir Police has been running various schemes under the programme, providing assistance to the people, particularly to the down trodden and deserving. He said that vocational training camps in far-flung areas, computer training courses and study tours for the students of poor pockets, educational, sports kits to orphanages and homes for special children are the highlights of the programme.
Rajendra said that under the programme, the organisation has been conducting different sports and cultural events and competitions at various levels to cultivate talent among the youth and reshape their skills. Establishing libraries and gyms for the mental and physical development of the youth under the programme has been appreciated by the people at large, said Rajendra.
He said that the sewing machines were distributed among the widows belonging to the BPL category with the aim to provide a helping hand to them for utilising their skills. This could help them to earn their livelihood and support their families. The Organisation is undertaking more schemes for the benefit of the youth and the deserving, he added.
Prominent among the present on the function, was Inspector General of Police, Armed Kashmir Rauoof-ul-Hassan, Deputy Inspectors General of Police, T. Namgyal and Sheikh Abdul Hamid, SsP Mir Mohammad Choudhary and Bashir Ahmad Khan, other Sr. Police officers, Sarpanches and Panches of the area.
