Kishtwar, Jan 9: Despite the government ban on sale of Tobacco items like cigarettes and Gutka etc outside educational institutions, the sale of these banned Tobacco items is going unabated outside schools and coaching institutions in Kishtwar District. According to the general public complaints, the sale of cigarettes and Gutta is rampant outside prime educational institutions like Boys Higher Secondary School Kishtwar, Girls Higher Secondary School Kishtwar, New Era Public High School Kishtwar, Green Model High School Kishtwar, Islamia Fareediya Higher Secondary School, Islamia Fareediya College of Education, Asrariya Valley High School, beside several private and government schools. It is not only that Tobacco items are being sold outside educational institutions, but they are being sold to children less than 18 years old. As per the law, no shopkeeper can sell the Tobacco items to anyone below 18 year age.Due to lack of awareness among the people, majority of the people continue their habit of smoking inside the banned institutions as it goes unchecked.
