| Surveillance along Indo-Pak Intl' Border strengthened: IG BSF | | Post Mendhar 'Pak killing' | |
Jammu, Jan 9: Keeping in view the ceasefire violation by the Pakistani troops in Mendher on the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district, Inspector General (IG) Border Security Force (BSF), Jammu Frontier Rajeev Krishna today said that the surveillance along Indo-Pak International Border (IB) also has been strengthened. "The yesterday's incident has definitely added a new dimension in which the Pak army entered into this side and killed two soldiers. Despite harsh weather conditions the BSF is ready to deal with any challenge," IG BSF Rajeev Krishna told media persons here today. The IG BSF said, ''the strengthening of these vulnerable points, OPs and BoPs has been done accordingly while the surveillance grid has also been strengthened.'' He further said that weather makes a bit harder for the troops guarding the border to discharge this type of activity in routine but the surveillance gadgets have been put in place. He said that "Even during the best weather conditions the terrain is such, which hampers and hinder our observations beyond a certain point. One cannot be able to see beyond 50 to 100 meters in that area. There are also dense forests and when this is coupled by the inclement weather conditions, it becomes all the more difficult." Admitting candidly, he said, "Yes it is difficult to keep surveillance in the area and there is no physical barrier between our soldiers on front and troops of the counter parts, the physical barrier in the form of the AIOS of the fence which is behind the FDS and we are sitting ahead of the fence and it is a very difficult task indeed." |
