3 arrested for abusing 'Pragaash' Rock Band
Parents demand grand Mufti's arrest

SRINAGAR, Feb 7: Three persons were arrested in connection with abusing and threatening the Pragaash rock band girls on internet during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.
According to the Police reports one Tariq Majeed Khan son of Abdul Majeed Khan of south Kashmir's Anantnag District, Ramiz Ahmad Shah son of Mohammad Shafi Shah of Baba Wayil, Gutli Bagh district Ganderbal and Irshad Ahmad Chara son of Abdul Ahad Chara of Batamalo Srinagar were arrested after their internet protocol (IP) addresses were tracked by a special team of police.
According to police sources, a special team of police tracking the I.P addresses have so far track down 26 more users whose comments out of the total 900 posts on the band's Facebook page were found abusive and threatening.
Police sources further added that Director General of Police Ashok Prasad is committed to provide security to the girls if needed and has already directed to closely monitor the areas where these girls reside.
A case in this regard has been registered under Section 66A of IT Act and Section 506 RPC (criminal intimidation) in the Rajbagh police station and legal experts believe that incase abusing and threatening case is proved, accused can be sent to jail for a period of three years or fined upto Rs 2 lakh.
Meanwhile ,the mother of one of the three persons arrested for abusing Kashmiri girls of band 'Pragaash' today demanded action against the Grand Mufti namely Mufti Bashir-ud-din of the State who had issued a fatwa recently against Pragaash and declared singing an un-Islamic activity.
The mother of one accused Irshad Ahmad Chara said that her son had nothing to do with the abuse and threatening but the police arrested him. She said that Grand Mufti of Kashmir Bashir-ud-din, who had issued the fatwa against the all-girl band and declared singing an un-Islamic activity, should have been arrested because he actually ignited the youth like her son to comment on the said rock band.
She said that her son was sleeping when police came and arrested him and added that Irshad had nothing to do with this controversy erupt. She finally demanded that if the Grand Mufti has said something why he is not arrested, why it is youth like her son only.
