| Class 7th student crushed to death inside DPS premises | | Angry parents lambast school authorities for ignoring safety norms | | Early Times Report jammu, Feb 7: In a shocking accident, a student of class 7th of Delhi Public School was crushed to death inside the school premises by the school bus this afternoon. The tragic incident took place in the parking area when the two buses collided against each other , while the driver in one of the buses took a reverse gear and hit her against the other bus. The accident took place minutes after the classes were over and the school children were moving towards the ground where buses were parked. According to reports, the seventh class student identified as Suruchi Choudhary, daughter of one Surjit Singh of Nanak Nagar Jammu, was approaching her school bus when she was hit by a bus of route D-132 bearing registration number JK02T-0474. The girl was crushed between the two buses and collapsed even before others present in the ground could raise an alarm to save her. She died on the spot. However, profusely bleeding girl was immediately rushed to the Government Medical College hospital where doctors declared her brought dead. After post mortem her body was handed over to parents for last rites. Senior police officials along with the concerned SHO visited the spot to take stock of the situation. The school administration was also seen with the police team. After hearing the shocking news, the parents of the deceased girl rushed to the emergency wing of the hospital and lost their temper as they could not believe their eyes and ears. They had earlier lost their son few months ago in a tragic accident due to electric shock. Even as the school administration, it is learnt, is trying to hush up the case for apparent reasons, the school Principal Sudershan Sonar while giving details of the accident termed it is most unfortunate that they have lost one of their students in the accident. He said the school children were walking in a queue while the deceased girl came rushing towards her bus.He said the seventh class student slipped in front of the bus and collided with it. He said the bus was parked in the ground and due to the impact of the collision the girl suffered severe head injuries. He said the school staff rushed her to the Government Medical College hospital where doctors declared her as brought dead. This is the second major accident involving DPS school bus in the recent months. As many as 40 students of Delhi Public School (DPS), had a narrow escape on October 17, 2012 as the brakes of the bus they were traveling in failed near Raghunath temple. The children were on their way to home. The bus driver lost control over the vehicle after the bus hit a Santro-make car. The DPS Parents Association on today severly criticized the school management and accused them of ignoring their complaints and safety measures required to ensure safety of the school children. Dejected parents sought overhaul of the system in the school. "We are concerned about safety of our wards. This school is looting parents on the name of new schemes and time has come when whole Jammu must agitate the autocratic approach of private schools", they added. Meanwhile, police have registered an FIR. Investigations are on. |
