| Years later, GCET teachers deprived of Sixth Pay Commission benefits | | Demands to be met in next cabinet meet: Lone | | Avinash Azad Jammu, Feb 7: Despite Government's tall claims on its accomplishments in higher education, Lectu-rers of Government Colle-ge of Engineering and Technology (GCET) Jam-mu are a disenchanted lot as years after government implemented recommendations of the Sixth pay commission for its employees, they continued to be deprived of the same. Sources told Early Times that the faculty members of only College of Engineering of state, despite being equivalent to plus two lecturers have been ignored and depri-ved of their dues. "Despite putting in work, the state government is disowning us. We have not been given sixth pay commission benefits after so long" , said a senior lecturer of GCET preferring anony-mity. He further claimed that state government had extended them the benefits of fifth pay commission in 2007. "This time we are not being considered, government is deliberately igno-ring the right of teaching staff" he said. Pertinently, the 6th Central Pay Commission recommendations have already been implemented in respect of Medical Coll-eges, depriving same to the Jammu College of Eng-ineering and Technology. When contacted, Mini-ster of Higher Education, M A Lone, assured that the demands of lecturer to be met as early as possible. "I am aware of the dilemma of lecturer also worried about the future of student of GCE&T. It is expect that the demands of lecturer would be met in next cabinet meeting," minister said. |
