| Leading business, social bodies call for Porbandar bandh on Feb 9 in support of KPs | | Pandit’s fast enters 9th day | | agencies PORBANDAR, Feb 7: The leading business, social, religious, non-governmental, and community organisations came out with open support to Vinod Pandit's fast unto death by presenting written support letters to All Parties Migrants Coordi-nation Committee (APMCC) and called on the district collector to submit a memorandum on their behalf in support of the agitation have warned to observe complete Porbandar bandh on February 9 in case the J&K Government failed to hold parlays with APMCC leaders and give a time frame on resolution of six point charter of dema-nds. As the fast unto death of Vinod Pandit entered 9th day today around 40 leading business, social, religious, non-governmental, and community organisation leaders called on team APMCC today and presented their written support letters to them pledging their full support and help in making the ongoing agitation a success. However the J&K Government continued its rigid stand towards exiled KPs and no steps have been taken by the State Govern-ment to hold parlays with fasting APMCC leaders. This has not only irked the leaders of the organization and the Kashmiri Pandits but its supports in Gujarat also. The Porbandar business community, NGOs, leaders of social and political organisations have extended their unflinching support to KPs struggle spearheaded by APMCC on six point charter of demands which has been submitted to both state and Central governments number of times earlier also. To show community's resentment over the Gover-nment's attitude towards exiled Pandits who are in wilderness for last 23 years, APMCC chief Vinod Pandit resorted to his second phase of agitation from Gujarat to invite the attention of civil society of India towards the plight of displaced Pandits who became the victims of the apathy of both J&K as well as Central Governments and are leading a refugee life in their own country. The leaders of various organizations held a meeting here today with APMCC leaders to discuss the strategy for February 9 Porbandar bandh. The leaders student community also participated in today's meeting and assured full support to KPs in their struggle. They said a total bandh will be observed in Porbandar on Feburary 9 in support with KPs dema-nds. Around 40 leaders of Chamber, Arya Samaj, Kharwa Samaj, and other leading organisations later accompanied King C Bharati, the national spokesperson of APMCC to Porbandar collector and district magistrate Jayant Kumar Sewak and submitted a memorandum on behalf of the all residents of Porbandar asking him to convey their concern to the President of India, Prime Minister of India and J&K chief Minister to immediately initiate dialogue with APMCC and resolve the crisis. "The collector gave us a patient hearing and assured that he will forward our memorandum and the concern of Porbandar leadership to the President of India adding his administration would try to do its best to help the genuine cause of APMCC to reach to the concerned quarters" Said King C Bharati, National Spokesperson APMCC. The leaders lead by HK Motivarsa, Ram Bhai Jadeja, Sunil D Gohel, Ex president Nagar Sewa Sadan, Bharat Bhai Modi, Sunil Kumar Trakroo, Incharge Punjab & Haryana APMCC, told the collector that they would be forced to declare Complete Porbandar Bandh in case their demand of immediate dialogue with the agitating team was not met with, which would further accompany with large Mashaal rallies and Public rallies to make the government listen to the demands of APMCC. "Five local leaders of Porbandar belonging to powerful Kharwa Samaj joined us today in one day token hunger strike while five others will join us tomorrow", King C Bharati said. "The delegation comprised of leaders from political, social, religious and community organisations and they have assured us their full support in our agitation", Bharati added. The leaders of Kharwa Samaj who joined token hunger strike include Khemji Bhai Motivarsa, Mohan Bhai Khokhri, Mukesh Bhai Goyal, Dinesh Malam and Shanti Lal Modi who observed one day hunger strike with Vinod Pandit. Meanwhile Bharati said that the health of Vinod Pandit was on decline but his spirits are high and he wants to fight till he can sustain adding in any case the agitation will continue. The prominent organisations of Porbandar that accompanied the delegation to district collector include Sagarshakti Sewa Trust, Allari Varan Naati, Shri Porbandar Machhimar Boat Association, Bharatiya Kisaan Sangh, Shiv Sena, Somnath Mahadev Trust, Arya Samaj, VHP, Bajrang Dal, Porbandar Samast Kharwa Samaj, Lakshmi Narayan Yuvak Mandal, Samast Shri Salat Naati Trust. The demands according to the statement include: Dialogue with Pakistan for facilitating visit to Shardha Peeth Temple in POK, Establishment of Shardha Peeth University in J&K, Probe into the multi-crore temple/shrines land encroachment in Kashmir, Passing of the pending Kashmir Temples and Shrines Bill in J&K Legislative Assembly, one time compensation for over-aged Migrant Kashmiri Hindu youth, special employment package for Non-Migrant Hindus of Kashmir Valley. Meanwhile Kashmiri Pandit Conference chief Kundan Kashmiri left for Porbandhar from haridwar this morning to participate in the struggle of KPs while AIKS has also extended full support to APMCC in the ongoing struggle. A protest demonstration for the second time was also held at Jantar Mantar New Delhi by KP organizations to show solidarity with fasting Vinod Pandit while a candle march was taken out in Jagti township this evening. The protestors warned to take the agitation at national level in case the demands of Pandits were not settled. |
