| Land Oustees hold protest, block NH | | 850 MW Rattle HEP | |

Kishtwar, Feb 11: Land Oustees of upcoming project in support of their demand of proper rehabilitation today held a strong protest at Khandni area of Kishtwar District and blocked vehicular movement on Jammu-Kishtwar National Highway for several hours. The protesters raised slogans in support of demand of adequate land compensation, proper rehabilitation and job opportunities in Rattle power project. They alleged that nearly three hundred families living in village Kandani, Bhandera, Phagumarh and Drabshala whose land is coming under the execution of 850 MW Rattle power project to be constructed in Drabshala village of Kishtwar District have been forced to vacate their land without any compensation of their structures and land. They said that despite several requests for re-assessment of the loss to the immovable property and business establishments situated along the National Highway, nothing has been done so far. They alleged that while making assessments by the department concerned have excluded their business units and residential house from any such acquisitions and put them to unprecedented financial loss and claimed to be victimized by the Revenue as well as PWD (R&B). Additional Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Rajesh Kumar Shavan rushed to the spot and pacified the agitating protestors. Later ADC Kishtwar felicitated the meeting of Land Oustees with Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar who assured the agitating people that their genuine demands will be looked into. During the course of the meeting DC Kishtwar Saleem Mohammad Chowdhary assured the agitating people that he will issue necessary directions to R & B department for re-assignment of the rates of their properties as per the market rate, beside , Land Oustees will get first chance in terms of job opportunity in the said project. |
