KATHUA, Feb 11: Royal Cricket Club (RCC) had narrow escape against Azad Cricket Club when they beat latter by one-run in the ongoing Kathua Premier League Twenty20 Tournament at Sports Stadium, here today. Earlier, batting first, Royal Club made 162 runs for the loss of eight wickets with Vikas playing brilliant innings of 88 runs coming off just 61 deliveries. Shekhar also batted well contributing 19-ball 21 runs. From Azad Club, Sonu and Anil bagged three and two wickets respectively. Later, chasing a target of over eight-run over, Azad Club bowled out for 161 runs in 20 overs. In need of three runs to win the match on the last delivery of the innings, Azad Club lost the only wicket in hand in an attempt to convert single into double amidst close fielding. However, Raman played fine innings of 34-ball 57 runs while Vishal added 18 runs coming off 14 deliveries. Rakesh and Kaka shared two wickets each from Royal Club. For his brilliant knock of 88 runs, Vikas was declared man of the match. Meanwhile, in another match of the day, PTS Kathua registered a four wickets win over Mahavir Cricket Club (MCC) Kathua. Batting first, after winning the toss, MCC set a target of 130 runs for eight wickets, which, in reply, PTS chased in 18.3 overs for six wickets. Naveen and Shotu were top scorers with 29 and 23 runs in their respective accounts. From PTS, Ajay was most successful bowlers, who claimed five wickets while Ramesh Bhat took two. Later, PTS Kathua overhauled the opponent total in 18.3 overs with four wickets in hand. Rompy and Rakesh were main scorers with 49 and 40 runs respectively. Naveen and Baba bagged two wickets each from MCC. |
