JAMMU, Feb 11: Despite three medals, including a gold, in their kitty, Jammu and Kashmir slipped to eight position from last year's fourth spot in the 11th Junior National Wushu Championship held at Patna in Bihar. However, Bhanu Partap Singh retained his gold to earn berth in the senior national camp being organised to pick up probable for the 17th Asian Games at Incheon in Korea next year. Besides Bhanu, Amandeep Singh and Rocky Singh clinched silver and bronze medals respectively. Six other state players lost their bouts at quarterfinals stages, reports reaching here informed. Earlier, the overall trophy went to Manipur while Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand bagged runners-up and second runners-up position respectively. However, J&K finished eighth in the medals tally as against last year's fourth position. Senior trials on Feb 20 Meanwhile, the J&K Wushu Association has organised selection trials to pick up probable for the upcoming 21st Senior National Wushu Championship to be held at Kolkata in West Bengal from March 28 to March 31. The trials shall take place at Martial Art Hall of Police Stadium, Gulshan Ground, here on February 20. |
