Sources said that additional forces were being requistioned for the purpose of maintaining law and order in the face of provocative postures being adopted by separatists and other fundamentalists in the valley. They said the government agencies believe that the situation may witness fluctuations till the next Friday and in order to tackle any situation about ten more companies of paramilitary CRPF would arrive in the Valley by Monday evening. According to official sources additional companies of CRPF were reaching Jammu on Sunday evening from New Delhi. They would arrive in the Valley by Monday evening. Those supervising the security arrangements have also taken help of BSF and they too have been deployed at some places for tackling the situation.. Before deploying additional companies of CRPF personnel they would be given some orientation on the need for observing restraint and on the use of minimum force against the protesters. Since the bitter experience of 2010 civilian strife the security forces have been directed to use onon-lethal weapons while handling protest demonstrations. Accordingly, the top functionaries of the ITBP have shown unwilling ness to spare some companies for deployment in Jammu and Kashmir on the plea that the ITBP personnel were not trained in using non-lethal weapons. |
