Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Feb 11 : Rail services remained suspended for the third day today due to security reasons and curfew restrictions in the Kashmir valley. There was no passenger train and the people stayed indoor because of curfew restrictions, imposed in the Valley since February 8 after the authorities apprehended violence following the hanging of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru in Delhi's Tihar jail. Official sources said railway stations had been wearing a deserted look for the past three days due to the absence of any passenger. However, the authorities has also suspended rail connecting from Qazigund in south Kashmir to Baramulla in north Kashmir via Srinagar, they said. "We could see damage to rail and other property during 2010 summer violence," they said adding, "This time we donot want to take any chance." However, air service remained unaffected from the curfew restrictions and air tickets were being treated as curfew passes. Patients and their attendants, who were discharged from hospital, including only women's hospital Lalla Ded, allged that there was no transport facility available, including ambulance to take them to their homes. "We are On the hospital premises for the past three days," they alleged. |
