| Chaman Lal Gupta to raise major issues in forthcoming assembly session | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 11-Former union minister and MLA Chaman Lal Gupta has said that despite huge spending by the Centre in J&K the problems are getting compounded and there was hardly any serious issue which got solved even after expiry of so many years. The dependence is mounting every year. All this needs a serious look by all concerned, more so, by men in authority in New Delhi as also in the State. Gupta said this while interacting with the activists and colleagues to decide the issues and questions to be raised in the ensuing session of the State Assembly. Prof. Gupta said that the session of the Assembly provides an opportunity to the members to raise the public grievances and seek accountability from the Government. He regretted that a strange situation was prevailing in this part of the country having a separate status under Article-370. This provision has come to be a root cause for many problems in J&K. To sort out various problems the Centre had provided large sums but with little results. In this regard, he particularly, referred to the problem of unemployment, poverty, question of rehabilitation of the migrants, connectivity, electricity, drinking water etc and said all these issues would be raised in the coming session, but it was unfortunate the Government promises are not translated into actions resulting in the problems getting compounded. |
