NABARD organises KCC workshop

Bhaderwah, Feb 24 : In order to hasten the process of implementing new KCC scheme in Doda district, District Development Manager, NABARD, Doda Rajesh Kumar Badyal, in order to sensitise the stakeholders, inter-alia, has initiated to organise workshops in various parts of the Doda district especially in the pockets where the concentration of the farmers is high.
In this process officials from agriculture department, horticulture department, KVK, various bankers and the target group "the farmers" will be involved. The aim will be to create awareness among all the stakeholders about the utility and importance of the KCC scheme.
Towards this a workshop was organised at Bhaderwah- an important agriculture and horticulture belt of Doda district. On this occassion, Badyal explained the participants that the objective of the KCC scheme is to provide flexible and hassle free credit to farmers in a cost effective manner. He explained that the KCC scheme is in vogue since 1998 and its sole aim was/is to provide easy credit to farmers. The new KCC scheme which was formulated in 2012 after thread bare deliberations by a working group appointed by Ministry of Finance Govt of India.
The new KCC Scheme envisages to provides complete facilities to farmers through a single smart cum debit card. DDM,NABARD explained that new KCC scheme provides for Short term credit requirements for cultivation of crops, Post harvest expenses, Produce Marketing Loan, Consumption requirements of the farmer household, Working Capital for maintenance of farm assets and activities allied to agriculture, likedairy animals, inland fishery etc. Investment credit requirement for agriculture and allied activities like pump sets, sprayers,dairy animals etc.
He further informed that all Farmers - Individuals / Joint borrowers who are owner cultivators, Tenant Farmers, Oral Lessees & Share Croppers, SHGs or Joint Liability Groups of Farmers including tenant farmers, share croppers etc. are eligible for loan under KCC.
He also explained the interest subvention facility available to farmers on timely repayment of KCC loan for short term component, through NABARD. The need for crop insurance was explained to farmers in detail and their queries were sorted out, then and there.
Besides farmers the prominent participants were L R Magotra (Director R-Seti,SBI), Mustak Ahmad(District Manager JCCB), Thakur Dass Bhagat(Br. Head J&K Bank Bhalla), Dr. R S Bandral, Dr.Munish Sharma& Dr. Amitesh Sharma (KVK,Doda) P R Bhagat & Romesh Singh (District Agriculture Officers, Doda), Sanjeev Kotwal (Horticulture Department Doda and Mohd. Farooq (Sarpanch).
While concluding the workshop Badyal expressed his gratitude to the participants for attending the workshop despite heavy downpour and snowfall in the region.
