| Jammu migrants to protest in front of Assembly | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 25: Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party has decided to protest outside Assembly, on the opening day of budget session, against alleged discrimination with Jammu migrants including Talwara by state government for the last many years. "The Jammu migrants including Talwara camping migrants are treated as enemies in spite of the clear directive of the Supreme Court to the Government of India and state government for providing relief to Jammu migrants at par with Kashmiri migrants, but astoundingly the government has ignored Jammu migrants. We will protest outside assembly on the day of Governor address" said jointly by the General Secretary of JKNPP, Anita Thakur, Incharge, Jammu Migrants Affairs and Chairman of Talwara Migrants Action Committee Balwan Singh. Anita Thakur appealed to the legislators of all political parties to support the Jammu migrants outside and inside the legislature, by joining hands with the NPP legislators inside the two houses. The Panthers Party leader and Talwara Migrants Chairman Action Committee appealed the Chief Justice of High Court of J&K to expedite the hearing of the migrants' contempt petition which was remitted on July, 7, 2008 by the Supreme Court of India to the Chief Justice of J&K with clear directions for its final disposal and report. "The High Court of J&K registered the matter as CPPIL No. 1 of 2008 titled as Suram Chand Sharma Vs. Gulam Nabi Azad & Ors. On 11.11.2009 the J&K High Court disposed of the petition with directions to pay the arrears within three months and few other directions were made. These directions were not implemented. Again contempt No.1/2010 titled Jagdev Singh Vs. G.K. Pillai was moved in J&K High Court on 26.02.2010. The matter has been listed 13 times but arrears have not been paid to the migrants as per the directions of the Supreme Court and the J&K High Court. It was clearly stated in the affidavit of J&K government before the Supreme Court that there were arrears of 21 crores for the period between 2004 and 2007. The Govt. of J&K has used coercive measures to drive away the genuine migrants from the private houses and thrown them out of their rented huts in order to demolish their addresses and claims." The Panthers Party leader said in its communication. |
