Doda, Feb 25: General Secretary of Thathri block Panchayat Association and Sarpanch Chiralla Pancha-yat, master (retired) Fazal Alam Wani Monday said till the state government remains silent on the security issues of Panchayat members and "deliberately neglects their security concerns" assassination of grass roots representatives will continue.
In a statement he held government responsible for these killings, "as it has failed to protect the elected panchayat members in the state". Condemning the brutal killing of sarpanch Javed Ahmad Wani, on Sunday evening in Baramulla, he demanded ex-gratia relief to the family besides a government job to wife of eligible child. He appealed the government to look into the security issue of panchayat members at the earliest.
He regretted that despite repeated appeals representations and everything which was required for security cover to the Panchayat members "government failed to take any action. |
