Cops caught napping as under-trials receive drugs via Court complexes?

Jammu, March 6: Are drugs like charas, opium and intoxicant capsules are reaching out to under-trials via Court Complexes' premises?
Today's incident of a spat between Security wing police personnel and some persons that took place at District Court Complex, here, has raised eyebrows against the police personnel deployed there.
At about 12 o'clock, one of the police personnel deployed at the main entry for frisking of people entering inside the District Court building stopped a youth who was approaching towards an under-trial who was brought there under police custody to attend the hearing in the court. However, the youth went ahead and shook hand with the under-trial, who was hand-cuffed.
The police personnel got suspicious and pushed aside the youth also slapped him asking what he has handed over to that under-trial. By the time, some advocates who saw the police personnel beating the youth immediately intervened and sought to know the reasons. When the police personnel stated that he suspects the youth for carrying intoxicant capsules, the people immediately frisked him and found nothing.
Irked over the rude behavior of the police personnel, they (advocates) flayed the action and sought to know from the senior police officers how they behave with commoners. "Few days back, we caught hold of drug-peddler and also found number of intoxicant capsules kept in a packet from him. We handed over the person to the police personnel, but no one knows whether he was handed over to the area police or was let free," voiced number of lawyers present on the spot.
While the senior police officers were tight lipped over the issue, reliable sources revealed that "there are certain vital inputs collected by various agencies which indicates that there are certain elements who are managing to provide drugs to under-trials whenever they turn for attending the court proceedings at District Court Complex."
"Their (drug peddlers) modus operandi is simple. They try to meet the under-trials on the pretext that they are their friends or relatives. They make request before the police personnel accompanying the hand-cuffed under-trials to allow them to talk to them. And the moment they get a chance they hand-over the drugs to them," informed sources.
