| PDP, NC term each other ‘murderers’ | | Mudslinging In LC | | et plus report Jammu, Mar 6: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and National Conference (NC)termed each other as ‘murderers’ during the discussion on ‘killing ofa youth at Baramulla’ in the Legislative Council today. While speaking during the adjournment motion moved by PDP, both sidesaccused each other of causing bloodshed in the valley.After the demands by PDP and Panthers party to hold discussion under adjournment motion Chairman Legislative Council Amrit Malhotra suspended the question hour. The ruckus was created when NC member Dr. BasheerVeeri whilepointing at PDP alleged, “You are responsible for the massacrein Bijbehra and now you are commenting on Baramulla”.On hearing this PDP members stood on their seats and expressed strongresentment over these remarks. PDP member Ashraf Mir pointed out, “For the last 60 years you areAshraf alleged, “NC is wholly responsible for the blood in the valleyin last four years”.Chairman intervened and asked the members to show restraint and stickto the discussion on the motion.“It is unfortunate that you are mudslinging on each other. We have notscarified question hour for such kind of debate. You should only speak on the motion”, lamented Chairman. Earlier while staring the discussion on adjournment motion PanthersParty member Rafiq Shah said, “We talk about confidence building measures(CBMs), zero tolerance to violations by security forces. Than whatkind of justice is this when in exchange of stones, bullets are fired”. PDP member Asgar Ali lamented, “The incident has forced us to believethat we are returning to the turmoil days, which has haunted Kashmirfor 20 long years”. Ashraf Mir also stood on his seat and said, “What kind of a democracy,we are living in? when there is curfew in Kashmir. The youth waskilled in cold blood”. NC member Khalid NajeebSuhrwardy said, “Kashmir has always been madeto boil. Whole politics is being done on Kashmir. People want Kashmir,not Kashmiris. As per my information, ordinary people were taking outprocession, why they were fired upon? Chief Minister Omar Abdullah wants normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir but it appears that some vested interests are conspiring against him”. Congress Party member Ravinder Sharma said, “We should not polticise this issue. Delhi has always supported Jammu and Kashmir”. NC member Vijay Bakaya while justifying the curfew in valley today urged members not to exploit the situation, but make efforts to pacify the situation. .NC member Jehangir Mir said that Army should have handled the situation carefully. Davinder Singh Rana, JavedRana, Sheikh Ghulam Rasool, Ghulam Nabi Monga and Ajat Shatru Singh also spoke on the motion.
