| Attempt to kill for rejecting marriage proposal | | 10 yrs RI, Rs 50,000 fine to accused | | ET Plus report Jammu, Mar 6: Principal Sessions Judge Udhampur AK Koul today awarded ten years rigorous imprisonment and fine Rs 50,000to accused Sat Pal s/O Tej Ram caste Mahasha R/O Krimchi Mohra JadTehsil Udhampur who attempted to kill the girl for not accepting hisproposal for marriage. Court further ordered that fine if recovered shall be paid to the injured as compensation for last she hassuffered. The accused was coercing the injured for marriage, which was rejected by her. So accused developed hatredtowards her and on the relevant day when the injured was proceeding to her home from her office , the accused who was wielding a “Dhrat” (sharp edged weapon) way laid her and chopped her arm. The injured was referred to Ludhiana alongwith the amputated arm.Samples of unstained and blood stained soil were collected from the place of occurrence. On 17.10.09 accused was arrested who made adisclosure about the weapon of offence and recovery of the weapon of Offence was made at the instance of accused from the bushes. Complicity of accused in commission of offences u/s 307/326/341 RPC was establishedand the charge sheet found its way to the court. Principal Sessions Judge Udhampur AK Koul after hearing Public Prosecutor Navneet Gupta appearing for the state whereas Adv KB Gupta appearing for the accused, observed that undoubtedly the crime committed by him is grave but looking at the age of the accused he is sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for 10years and also to a fine of Rs.50, 000/-. |
