Jammu, Mar 8 : Youth Wing of Jammu and Kashmir Gandhi Global Family's today celebrated International Women's Day and honoured its activist.
According to press release, the women activists who worked in rural areas and propagated the Gandhian philosophy amongst the masses were honoured including
Waheeda, Jyotsna Kak, Rakhi Chauhan, Meenakshi Jamwal, Sushma Kaul, ushma Jamwal, Vandana Sharma, Prakriti Sharma, Neelam Jamwal, Sandhya Kachroo, Kailash Sharma.
In his message the State President, Gandhi Global Family, Padamshri S.P Varma while appreciating the role of women across the World informed that this day was being celebrated across the World with the theme
"A promise is a promise: Time for action to end violence against women".
He said it is very unfortunate to hear that still women & girls are subjected to disrespect and violence so we must find a way put an end to all this.
Later all participant took a pledge to fight against female foeticide, domestic violence against women, eve teasing, work place harassment and gender inequality. |
