ET Plus Report Jammu, Mar 8 : On the eve of international women's day J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages organized a multi lingual women's Mushaira at KL Sehgal hall here on Friday. The event was presided over by noted writer and former Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Prof. Rita Jitendra. In her presidential remarks Prof. Rita Jitendra said that the presence of a poetess in the society is like a pleasant breeze and holding mushaira ends suffocation in the society. Saying that poetry was the name of rare feelings Jitendra said that those who are engaged in this lofty segment are admirable. Earlier secretary Academy, Khalid Bashir Ahmad said that women writers and poets had been contributing their thoughts for creating a better environment adding that the purpose of organizing the mushaira was to provide a platform to women for expressing their thoughts. Khalid also said that there was a need to hold more and more women centric events across the state on regular basis. Large number of women intellectuals, writers and poets from different parts of Jammu province attended the multi lingual mushaira. The poetesses who recited their poetry included Usha Kiran Kiran, Neelam Kumari, Amarjeet Kour, Prof. Rita Jitendra, Dr. Aruna Sharma, Yogita Yadav, Khalida Parveen, Shameem Akhter, Santosh Nadan, Fozia Mughal and Darakshan Andrabi. Among others additional secretary, Jammu, Savita Bakshi was also present on the occasion. |
