| Mir for mechanisation of agriculture farms for better yield | | | SRINAGAR: Minister for Agriculture, Mr. Ghulam Hassan Mir today reiterated that the use of modern methods of agriculture production shall boost the economy of farmers in the state. He said that agriculture is the back bone of our economy and as many as 80 percent of the people are associated with agriculture sector, urging the use of modern technology and latest methods in the sectors of Horticulture, Floriculture, Apiculture, Pisciculture and other allied sectors, thae Minister assured self sufficiency and sustenance for the farmers. The Minister on the occasion asked the educated and unemployed youth of the state to work for creation of job awareness in the agriculture sector by establishing their income generating food processing units. This was stated by the Minister at the inaugural sale exhibition of Farm Tractors organised by Escort Limited, Valley View Automobile Agency at Hotel Silver Star near Nowgam Bye-pass. The Minister also said that subsidy was provided for the sale of 800 tractors during last financial year by Agricultural Department. He said that every effort is being made for the mechanisation of agricultural sector, besides awareness camps are being held for acquainting the farmers for adopting the high yield variety seeds for increasing the yield of crops so that the socio-economic condition of farmers are improved. |
