JAMMU: Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies, Nawang Rigzin Jora, today chaired a high level meeting and discussed various measures including proposed Solid Waste Management project of Paradigm Environmental Strategies Pvt. Ltd aimed at making Jammu city garbage free besides utilizing the said garbage in generating electricity in the State. Minister of State for Home, Tourism, Industries and Commerce, Mr. Sajad Ahmed Kichloo and Commissioner Secretary Housing and & Urban Development, Jeet Lal Gupta were also present in the meeting. Earlier, the Director Paradigm Environment Strategies (P) Ltd., through power point presentation, highlighted the aim and objective of the said project which is a Germany aided project and the Jammu city has been chosen for its execution. She sought cooperation from the people of Jammu city to clean the city from garbage. She said that it is essential to advise corporations and authorities how to act socially and environmental friendly in their daily business conduct. She said that we provide a range of services that will address waste material problem in a holistic and sustainable manner. She said the company has been operational since 2006 and executed over 120 projects in the field of environment, energy and engineering and added that many projects in different parts of the country are presently under execution. Meanwhile, the Minister though endorsed the idea, asked the Commissioner Secretary, Jeet Lal Gupta to have a detailed discussion with Director of the Company and formulate comprehensive DPR for further action. He said though the Government has already taken a number of steps to make both the Capitals of the State garbage free through effective solid waste management. The meeting was attended by Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Kuldeep Khajuria, senior officers of JMC and other officials of the Company. |
