| NC hooliganism at Qazigund | | Shops looted, 3 injured | | Saahil Suhail Kulgam, Apr 8: At least three shopkeepers sustained injuries when National Conference activists went berserk today and ruthlessly beat shopkeepers near Toll Post, Qazigund after they objected to their vulgar gestures. Shopkeepers, who sustained injuries during the looting and ransacking were identified as Sajad Ahmad Ganie s/o Abdul Rahman Ganie, Fayaz Ahmad Khanday s/o Ab GaniKhanday and Ali Mohammad Wani all residents of Hilar Qazigund, who were sifted to Qazigund Emergency Hospital for treatment. Eyewitnesses told early time plus that dozens of vehicles covered with national conference flags carrying scores of NC activists rushed towards Jawahar Tunnel to receive Abdul Majeed Bhat (Larm) who was recently inducted in the state legislative council. They said that after few hours' vehicles returned and stopped near tool plaza Lower Munda and started to vulgar tunes. "Their vulgar gestures irritated our customers. When we objected, they entered our shops, dragged us out and looted the shops", they said. Javaid Ahmad, a shopkeeper said three of their colleagues sustained injuries after they resorted to stone pelting. Shopkeepers alleged that the activists looted their shops and decamped with bats, handicraft items and other valuables. Later shopkeepers held strong protest demonstrations against the national conference demanding registration of FIR against them. They also burnt the flag of NC. A total shutdown was observed against the incident. Station House Officer Qazigund, Tariq Ahmad Tak, confirmed that the three shopkeepers sustained injuries. "We will bring both the parties in the police station and process according." He said while assuring registration of First Information report.
