jammu, Apr 8: A grand glittering fashion show was held at Gujjar Charitable Trust at Channi Himmat, Jammu on Sunday in which more than 20 models both males andfemales participated displaying several varieties of traditional dresses during catwalk on the ramp. Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies, Nawang Rigzin Jora, was the chief guest while Minister for Housing, Floriculture and Culture, Raman Bhalla was the guest of honor. On the occasion, Minister for Urban Development highlighted the main objective of holding such fashion show saying that it provides a platform to the talented male and female models to excel in the field of their interest. Congratulating the organizers for conducting the first ever fashion show in Jammu, the Minister said that such shows would in long way benefit those who want to prove their metal in this field. He said that today’s collection has exhibited state’s traditional dresses and culture. Jora said that the government encourages such events aimed at promoting state’s talent adding that a grand fashion show was also organized in Kashmir valley last year. He said that he was delighted to see a good response from the people of Jammu for their overwhelming participation in this show. Jora said the youth of Jammu and Kashmir has great talent in varied fields and they have proved their metal on various occasions. The Minister was awarded a memento by the Organization. Later, Jora presented awards to all those models who participated in catwalk. Earlier, more than 20 models of the State both male and females have a catwalk on ramp and exhibited many dresses, including Royal Sherwani Theme, traditional Kurta –Dhoti and Sari etc. which received big applause. Earlier, a number of cultural troops presented colorful cultural programmes.
