| Kichloo for taping pilgrim tourism potential in Kishtwar | | | JAMMU: The Minister of State for Tourism, Home, Industries and Commerce (Independent Charge) Mr. Sajad Ahmed Kichloo today said that all possible means would be put in place to tap the pilgrim tourism potential of Shri Hudh Mata Trisandhya Yatra, which is the third important revered shrine in district Kishtwar, after Chandi Mata Shrine in Machail (Paddar) and Sarthal Devi (Kali Mata) Shrine in Sarthal, Kishtwar. He said for the purpose an integrated pilgrim tourism development plan will be formulated shortly, envisaging both short term and long term measures. The Minister was chairing a joint meeting of tourism department functionaries and the representatives of Shri Hudh Mata Trisandhya Yatra Management Committee convened today to review arrangements for week long Shri Hudh Mata Trisandhya Yatra commencing from July12 , 2013. Mr. Kichloo asked the Commissioner/Secretary Tourism, Mr. Atul Dulloo to send a team of experts to assess the requirements to facilitate the devotees and showcase the place as a pilgrim tourist destination. Pointing out that the area lacks motorable road connectivity from Dong dhuroo to Dachhan , he said development of the area was need of the hour as now many pilgrims from outside the district and even the State have started visiting these Shrines . Mr. Kichloo said that Jammu and Kashmir offers a variety of tourist attractions and the pilgrim tourism potential is as rich as leisure tourism, and adventure tourism, including snow skiing, river rafting and winter sports. He said Kishtwar and Doda districts have many highly revered pilgrim destinations which are witnessing ever increasing rush of devotees with every passing year, adding that tapping of pilgrim tourism potential shall be brought under main focus in future planning and development process. Briefing about the salient tourism and religious features of the yatra, the President, Shri Hudh Mata Trisandhya Yatra, Mr. T. C. Thakur said that the Bhawan is located at a height of about 8500 feet from the Sea level near the famous Brahama Peak in Anant Nallah village of Dachhan, Marwah in district, Kishtwar. He said there are about 11 (eleven) other pilgrimage places enroute the Yatra which if brought on the tourism map of the State would attract a large number of tourists. He said that if the road from Dangdhuroo to Dilgoot, is developed into a motorable road, the yatra distance will reduce the Journey by 50 percent resulting into a great rush of devotees/pilgrims. He said infrastructure development of the area would be a boon for the pilgrim tourism which can change the socio-economic condition, not only of the inhabitants of the area but the State as a whole. The short-term measures included repair of Bridle path from Dilgoot to Bhawan and helicopter service from Kishtwar to Kailoot, besides provision of tented accommodation enroute the yatra. The meeting was informed that the Yatra starts from Radha Krishan Mandir Sounder, Dacchan with night halts at Virat Mata Mandir at Dilgoot, Goukoot and Kaikoot and reach to the Bhawan on July 18, 2013. |
