Jammu, Apr 8: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Rajeswari Katoch against the installation of set-top boxes in the Jammu, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice MA Mir and Justice DS Thakur after hearing petitioner in person issued notice to Union of India through Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Chairman TRAI, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Take One JK Media Private Ltd and Space Communication Network, ASGI KK Pangotra waived notice on behalf of Ministry of Information& Broadcasting. Advocate Ravinder Gupta waived notice on behalf of Chairman Telecommunication Regulatory Authority of India and senior Additional Advocate General Gagan Basotra on behalf of Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu. The notice shall go to Take One JK Media Private Ltd and Space Communication Network returnable within two weeks and directed Registry to List after two weeks. In the petition it has been submitted that the matter is of great public importance as also urgency as with the every passing day, private respondent are coercing people to install set-top boxes, in Jammu much ahead of the scheduled time and making them enter into agreement to their disadvantages.
