Jammu, June 4: Continuing its drive against bovine smugglers, Police today foiled a new modus operandi of bovine smugglers of transporting bovine animals during midnight and rescued 14 bovine animals in Udhampur. "During the intervening night of June 3 and 4 SDPO Chenani Gian Chand Sharma and SHO police station Kud Inspector Rakesh Bamba under the supervision of I/C SSP Udhampur Benam Tosh, intercepted two Mahindra vehicles (JK02-1532 and JK14A-2756) loaded with bovine smugglers. The bovine smugglers fled away from the spot leaving behind the vehicles. During thorough search, 14 bovine animals were rescued," a police spokesperson said in a statement. FIR No 56/2013 U/S 188/RPC, 3 PCA has been registered in Police Station Kud and police parties have been deputed to apprehend the absconding bovine smugglers. |
