Eidgah to be developed as model constituency: Gul
Announces Rs. 32 lakh out of CDF for dev works

SRINAGAR, June 4 : The Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Mr. Mubarak Gul today visited various areas in Eidgah constituency including Siraj Bazar Zainakadal to take a personal feedback of people’s problems besides taking stock of the developmental needs of the area.
The Speaker also visited Government Girls Middle School, Tibtian Colony, Kaka Sahib Sangam and Higher Secondary School Gudgari Mohallah and enquired about the problems faced by these institutions. Mr. Gul announced that the Middle School, Tibtian Colony, Kaka Sahib Sangam will be upgraded as high school shortly. In this regard, he directed the DDC Srinagar to identify the land in Sangam area so that construction work of school building is started. At Siraj Bazar Zainakadal, the people of the area demanded opening of Zainakadal bridge for regular traffic service. He assured them that the bridge will be functional for regular traffic within a week’s time. During visit to PHC Sangam, he was informed that the hospital building is almost completed and Rs 1.18 crore have been incurred on the project so far. He directed the executing agency to speed up the pace of work on the building and give final touch to the building so that the same could be inaugurated soon. Later, the Speaker addressed a public gathering at village Bhagwanpora in Noorbagh area and said that the Government led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has taken many big developmental programmes in hand in the State to upgrade the living standard of the people of all the three regions.
Referring to the developmental works under execution in Eidgah constituency, the Speaker said that the construction work on various micro and macro projects under various sectors is apace. He said that efforts are afoot to make the Eidgah area a model constituency. He announced Rs 32 lakh out of his Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for construction of fencing of graveyard at Noorbagh, construction of lanes and drains, construction of boundary wall for Noorbagh School Rakh Colony and development of graveyard at Sweeper colony. The Speaker directed the concerned authorities to organize agriculture mela in the area to aware farmers about the programme and policies made for them. Mr. Gul said that sports talent is present among the students of the State but need is to channelize it in a proper way. He said playing field and indoor sports facilities will be developed in the area.
The Speaker announced that four fountains will be constructed in Safakadal Chowk, Norabagh, Nawakadal and Mujahid Manzil for which he directed the Commissioner, SMC to start work on these fountains and ensure their completion in 2014.
Mr. Gul said that peace is key to the development and appealed the people to maintain peace in the area.
Earlier, the Speaker visited the shrine of Moulana Hazrat Sheikh Yaqoob Sarfi (RA), Mohallah Ishan Sahib Zainakadal and paid obeisance there. He also prayed for welfare of the people of the State.
District Development Commissioner, Srinagar Mr. Farooq Ahmad Shah, Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Dr. G. N. Qasba and other officers of district administration accompanied Mr. Gul during his tour.
