| Jagatpur residents allege embezzlement in BPL ration, hold protest | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
KATHUA, July 29 : To protest non-availability of ration meant for the people belonging to Below Poverty Line (BPL), the residents of village Jagatpur near Lakhanpur alleging embezzlement of ration held a demonstration against Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Department for its failure to ensure the smooth supply of the same. Led by the BSP leader Som Raj Manjotra, the protesters who had gathered near Mini Secretariat, here today said that ration against the BPL quota is unavailable at the Government Depot in their village while they alleged that the dealer misbehaved with them. While expressing their resentment against the CAPD department, the people charged the department officials including AD Food, TSO and even the dealer for pasting the APL status on the BPL ration cards with an objective to sideline the innocent and poor families from the advantages of BPL quota. They also demanded a high level inquiry about the misplacing of BPL ration quota which is not being distributed among the BPL families. |
