| How does Omar know? | | Separatists in touch with agencies......! | | ET Report JAMMU, July 29: The Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah Sunday said that the Hurriyat leaders avoided direct dialogue with the government of India and had truck with the agencies. The statement has generated lot of interest among the masses. It has, at the same time shaken the separatist camp for obvious reasons. The separatist will react sharply and deny the allegations as baseless. Apart from rhetoric, one has to admit role of intelligence agencies in a conflict zone. They operate independently and they mean business. Omar heads the government in Jammu and Kashmir and in that capacity he is entitled to a briefing by the state agencies every day in the morning or any time in the day when he wishes. But as far as the central agencies are concerned, they are answerable to the union home Ministry and the PMO. They don't worry about the likes or dislikes of a Chief Minister. Omar in his statement has referred to a domain that is looked after by the central agencies. And, being a matter of grave importance, the central agencies would not afford to lose the guarded secret unless it is required to discredit a separatist or evoke a particular reaction. So if the central agencies did not reveal it to Omar Abdullah, he must have been taken on board by the Prime Minister or by the Home Minister! But in the current context that seems a remote possibility. Who then informed Omar about the important development? |
