| PDD turns Nelson's eye | | Unscheduled power cuts continue in valley | | DODA, July 29 : People continue to face problems on account of frequent unscheduled power cuts in several parts of District Doda including Bhaderwah, Doda and its peripheries even during the holy month of Ramzan. However, the Power Development Department (PDD) seems to be least bothered about the inconvenience being faced by the people during the Holy Ramzan month. This is inspite of the fact that Chief Minister, who is also holding the Power portfolio had directed the administration to ensure better delivery of services to avoid any inconvenience to the people during the month of Ramzan and also asked the PDD and PHE authorities to stick to the scheduled power curtailment and adequate water supply. Doda Welfare Society Chairman Mohd Iqbal Balwan alias Nika Balwan have accused the PDD authorities at Jammu and Udhampur of turning a Nelson's eye towards their grievance of Doda and Bhaderwah despite repeated requests to them to ensure frequent unscheduled power cuts during the Ramzan. Balwan alleged that officers in PDD department is always indulging in step motherly treatment with the people of Bhaderwah and Doda and added that the state government has made the commitment that 24 hours power will be supplied in the areas where there will be metering and now when there is 100 per cent metering in Bhaderwah and Doda the power cuts extend from 10 to 15 hours due to the discrimination with Chena valley people by the PDD senior officers and this is the main reason behind unscheduled power cuts, he alleged ." He warned that if PDD department did not mend its ways the people of the area have no other option but to hold protest and take law and order in their hands. |
