Jammu, July 29: BJP National Executive Member and Jammu East MLA Ashok Khajuria today called on Inspector General Police (Jammu) alongwith Pardeep Sharma, Ram Niwas Aggarwal of Raghunath Pura and apprised him of the grievances of the large population of people on account of the closing of a gate leading to Raghunath Mandir from Raghunathpura side.
Khajuria told the IGP that the gate was closed few years ago alongwith other one from Hari Market side in the name of security. While the gate from Hari Market was opened for public but the gate from Raghunathpura Mohalla still remains closed and the devotees, women in particularly, who visit the temple daily in early morning hours as well as during evenings, have to travel on foot long distance to reach the mandir premises as the centuries old entry point stands closed. "Despite repeated requests and representations nothing has been done to solve the problem," Khajuria said and added that the coming days are of great religious importance for Hindus as a number of festivals are approaching and the devotees in large numbers will be visiting Raghunath Mandir from the adjoining areas. "Government should make immediate arrangements to open the gate for the convenience of the people. It will also ease the rush at main gate and fulfil the long pending demand of the local population," the BJP MLA said. "Security of the mandir and devotees is equally important but it should be the responsibility of the administration to ensure security but it should not create any problem or inconvenience to the people." The IGP gave patient hearing an assured that the appropriate steps will be taken after the report from the concerned authorities is received regarding the matter.
Prominent residents of Raghunathpura including Kuldeep Gupta, Gopal Nayyar, Sunil Sethi and Sat Raina accompanied the MLA.
