Early Times Report

Jammu, July 29: Police alongwith help of complainant namely Sukhdev Singh R/O Khanwal, Samba has managed to trace out the missing gold ornaments which were reportedly went missing on the intervening night of July 9/10 with complainant withdrawing his complaint that valuable has been found within residential premises.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Samba Israr Khan who personally visited the spot and supervised the investigation ruled out any outsider 's hand in the missing of said ornaments as thikri pehra comprising of Police, VDC and locals were already in place on the night of reported theft. However a case was registered against FIR No. 139/2013 u/s 457/380 RPC in this matter at P/S Samba and investigation was started.
"In fact, 04 members of the thikri pehra were sleeping on the roof of the house just opposite the complainant's house. Besides, 02 members of the family i.e. complainant and his wife were sleeping next to the door while the daughter of the complainant also was sleeping in the same room where theft was reported, SSP Samba stated. According to Police investigation the lock of the box containing ornaments was not broken but opened with the proper key and also the fact that the daughter of the complainant was well awake till 3:00 am in the morning and had gone twice to attend the call of nature.
"Her cell phone record also suggested that she was active on phone from 10:00 am till 3:00 pm in the morning. So there was no possibility of anybody stealing the ornaments. Interestingly, the artificial ornaments remained untouched and this also led to the fact that the theft was an insider who knew everything about the ornaments, their placement and also the artificial gold lying there, police official said.
Police said, "Police started exerting the pressure and told the complainant to search his own house thoroughly and on Sunday, the complainant came back and reported that the ornaments have been found lying at some other place in the house and that he want to withdraw his complaint of theft." He also got his statement recorded u/s 164/Cr. P.C before the Magistrate to withdraw his theft case.
Meanwhile SSP Samba has also reiterated and requested the public not to believe on the hearsay and on rumours as there is no professional gang operating in the area. However, the people should carry on the thikri pehra alongwith Police and not give opportunity to petty criminals of the area to steal and blame the outsiders.
