Srinagar, July 29: Expressing deep shock over the incident of rape of a minor girl in Kishtwar district, CPI (M) State Secretary Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has said the culprits need to be immediately identified and brought to justice. In a statement issued here he urged the government to order a thorough probe into the circumstances which led to kidnapping and rape of the girl, whose family has alleged involvement of Village Defence Committee (VDC) members in the gruesome act. "Distrustful elements within the ranks of VDC members need to be isolated and thorough investigation need to be carried out to prove their credentials. Elements with criminal antecedents or dismal track record in these committees need to be shown door," he demanded. Expressing solidarity with the family of rape victim, the CPI (M) leader has said the best relief to the bruised soul and the family would be if the government identifies the culprits and bring them to justice without any delay. |
