| Agitated family holds protest against alleged medico negligence | | | Arun Trishal Kathua, Aug 5: Family members and locals staged protest against the death of a youth who allegedly died due to medical negligence at District Hospital Kathua today. The agitated family members also blocked the National Highway.One person namely Mehar Singh (38) s/o Bishan Dass a resident of Chack Sajjan, Kharote died while undergoing medical treatment at the District Hospital Kathua on intervening night of Sunday/Monday. Amid sloganeering against the hospital management, the protestors were demanding the strict action against the erring hospital staff, including doctors who had allegedly put patient on wrong medicine. Some of the protestors accused the political leaders, administration and the state government for their failure to improve the poor state of healthcare at district hospital of Kathua due to which many innocent patients have lost their life. As per protestors the patient admitted in medical ward fell unconscious at evening on Monday soon after he was injected some medicines by paramedical staff on duty in District Hospital Kathua. Hearing the hue and cry of attendants of Mehar Singh, other people attending their patients also rushed to help them ironically there was no doctor on duty and staff members also ran away leaving the Mehar Singh to God's mercy. Meanwhile taking cognizance in the matter, Medical Superintendent District Hospital Kathua Dr J P Singh has ordered an inquiry into the incident and has assured necessary action against anyone found guilty in the medico-negligence case. |
