| `If Eid falls on Friday, ruler loses his throne' | | Will NC led Govt survive? | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 5: If Eid falls on Friday, the ruler loses his throne. This is what Kashmiri women firmly believe in. All rulers in Kashmir, they say with authority, have lost their respective Governments when Hilaal-e-Eid (crescent) was spotted on Thursday. This year, there are chances of crescent appearing on Thursday August 8. Like other months of Islamic calendar, Ramadhan can have either 30 or 29 days depending upon the appearance of the crescent. If the crescent is spotted on August 8, Eid shall be celebrated on Friday. It will not be a good omen for National Conference led coalition rule, women believe. Omar Abdullah is in the eye of the storm since January 31, 2010. Violent demonstrations, hostile coalition partner, growing popularity of the main opposition party PDP and increased militant attacks have given him sleepless nights. Omar Abdullah led Government has been accused of failure on all fronts. He has also candidly admitted his failure. Much damage has been caused to mar's reputation by Government of India. A spokesman of New Delhi revealed that Omar had neither sought repeal of AFSPA nor return of power projects. So Omar's record is not very impressive. And to add to his woes, Eid may fall on Friday on (August 9). And if Kashmiri women are to be believed then Omar's Government is in real danger. |
