Four officials of forest division Gulmarg arrested by police
Loot of natural herbs goes unabated

Gulmarag, Aug 5 : The four officials of the forest division Gulmarg have been arrested by police for their alleged involved in illegal trading of banned natural herbs from the forests.
Reports said that Farooq Ahmad Bhat forester, Abdul Azaz Ganaie, forest guard, Mudasir Geelani, Watcher, Ghulam Ahmad Chopan, forest guard have been arrested by police yesterday night after a specific information that they are involved in illegal trading of natural herbs.
"During the police raid, all the four forest department officials were arrested with eight sacks (Bags) of banned natural herbs.
The cost of the banner herbs is been estimated in lakhs," a police official said.The police have also register a case against the forest officials vide FIR number 15/2013 and have started further investigation about the case. Reports also said that some senior officials of the forest department are also likely to be questioned about the case for their alleged involvement in smuggling the banned herb from forest division Gulmarg. Reports also said that these forest officials are having the patronage of the concerned senior officers, who have deeply nexus with the local herb traders who are later exporting the natural herbs to outside state.
It is not only the natural herbs which are being looted by the forest department officials in forest division Gulmarg, the residents of Tangmarg area claim that there is also deep rooted nexus timber smugglers and local forest department officials. The locals said that if the present loot of forest continues furthermore, the world famous Gulmarg will lost its natural beauty within years.Taking cognizance of the arrest of their four forest officials, the Chief conservator forests, S.L. Sharma said that department will investigate the entire matter within two days and action would be initiated against the forest officials involved in the illegal herbal trade.
"An investigating officer outside forest division Gulmarg will be an investigation officer. Once the officer will submit its report, the department will take action against the accused," Sharma said.
