| Did authorities ignore Intelligence inputs? | | Kishtwar communal violence | | Et Report Jammu, Aug 10 : As communal tension gripped Kishtwar, it seems that the authorities ignored intelligence inputs on communal violence. It has been reliably learnt that the intelligence agencies has verbally informed the authorities about the possibility of communal violence during EID. The violence, persons who matter in the district believe, could have been averted had the authorities taken the inputs seriously. The violence is seen having a linbk to JuD Chief Hafiz Sayed's threat of causing trouble in India. Pertinent to mention, the threat has been taken seriously and a high alert has been sounded in New Delhi. Sources said that Sayed is stated to have directed activists, belonging to Lashkar-i-Toiba, operating in Jammu and Kashmir to engineer communal tension and clashes which could lead to derailment of peace in a bigger way than killing of a couple of civilians or security personnel. The administration, these persons believe, cannot escape responsibility for the trouble. "They should have taken appropriate measures", they said. The intelligence agencies have sounded alert on the LOC and the IB in Jammu and Kashmir as militants may receive full support from the Pak Army for crossing into Jammu and Kashmir during the next three months. |
