| Rajouri tense; curfew imposed | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Aug 10: After a clash between groups of two communities followed by some violence district administration has imposed curfew in the old city and its vicinity. Sources said that at about 9.30 pm near a religious structure situated near head post office some miscreants tried to create trouble . When the news spread members of from majority community gathered at city chowk and started protest.
They also organized protest rally and reportedly some of the youth tried to break the shops. On getting information M Latifi, district SP along with police contingent rushed to old city.
He held talks with the leaders from both the communities and timely intervention by him avoided a major clash.
Meanwhile some miscreants tried to break the shutters of the shops but police also foiled their attempt. In order to prevent the situation from taking further ugly turn district administration imposed curfew in the whole city at about 10 pm.
'Taking precautionary measure we have imposed the curfew in the whole city to maintain peace and control any untoward incident " said FDC Bhagat , DDC.
No senior police officer could be contacted as they were busy in controlling the situation and deployment of the security forces. |
