Reasi, Aug 10 : KrishiVigyan Kendra Reasi and SKUAST- J organized a training programme on sustainable agriculture under the guidance of Dr. K S Risam, Director Extension in which 25 farmers participated. Dr Banarsi Lal, Scientist while welcoming the farmers explained them that sustainable agriculture is the production of food, fiber, or other plant or animal products using farming techniques that protect the environment, public health, human communities, and animal welfare. "This form of agriculture enables us to produce healthful food without compromising future generations' ability to do the same," he said and emphasized that although chemical fertilizers increases the yield but on the other hand affects human as well as animal health. He stressed for use of organic manure and crop rotation. In this way minimum input is used. Dr Banarsi also stressed for making Self Help Groups so that their livelihood is improved. The programme was coordinated by Dr Shahid Ahamad, Programme Coordinator and Jagdish Kumar, Computer Programmer. |
