As per details available the online registration deadline came to end on August 10th but due to imposition of curfew in Kishtwar and other places many students could not do the online registration . In addition to it the Government has snapped the services of all the private internet service providing companies and that too has hampered the process of online registration for the aspirants of the Special Scholarship Scheme . The Chairman of J&K Peoples Forum Syed Nassarullah Shah has already written a letter to MoS MHRD Mr Shashi Tharoor and has appealed him to extend the date by another 20 days . While talking to Early Times Mohammad Shafi a parent of a student from Doda said that he came to know about the scheme very late but wanted to do the online registration for his daughter who wants to pursue BSC Nursing, but couldn't do the same as the last date is already over." We appeal MHRD & AICTE to extend the online registration date at least tillAugust 25th so that people like me don't suffer. Pertinent to mention that the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) Initiated PM's Special Scholarship Scheme for the students of Jammu and Kashmir in 2011 but handful of students availed the benefits of this scheme but during 2012 more than 5000 students got benefitted under this scheme. The scholarship money for more than 3000 students admitted last year has already been disbursed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) but the rest scholarships are yet to be disbursed . Under PM's Special Scholarship scheme (PMSSS) 5000 scholarships are be given every year to the students hailing from Jammu and Kashmir whose parents annual income is not more than Rs 6 lakhs. The students can take admissions outside the State to pursue higher education in general degree courses, Engineering and Medical studies in the Government recognized Colleges and Institutes which are recognized by AICTE or University Grants Commission (UGC). The Ministry of HRD Government of India has divided 5000 scholarships , by providing majority of 4500 scholarships to general degree courses. Rest of 500 scholarships are be equally distributed (250 each) to Medical and Engineering students. "An amount of up to Rs 30,000 per annum for general degree courses, up to Rs 1.25 lakh per annum for Engineering and up to Rs 3 lakh per annum for Medical students is being given to every scholar as tuition fees as per the PMSSS guidelines. In addition to it the hostel fees, mess charges etc are also being given for all categories of courses up to a ceiling of Rs 1 lakh per annum. It is important to mention that State Government has not conducted a single awareness programme about this scheme till date in any part of the state. |
