| For 3 killings, Omar deserves another award by India Today | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 18: The Jammu and Kashmir State bagged No. 1 State award in the health sector at the India Today conclave last year. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who attended the conclave received the award from the organizers. Addressing the conclave, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that his government has flagged health as one of the most important concerns in the development policy of the State adding that focused attention is being paid to upgrade basic health needs in the state. The Chief Minister, who showed concerned about health of the people of his state, was found counting the dead during last week's communal clashes in Kishtwar and elsewhere in the state. Omar stated that only three persons-two Muslims and a Hindu were killed in the clashes and expressed dismay that the clashes had taken place in his tenure. Omar tried to `justify' the three killings by citing figures of various states where the toll has always been very high. The India Today Conclave organizes must take note of Omar's unique achievement. He deserves another award for restricting the killings to three persons only. |
