| Disbanding of VDCs FJammu NC leaders still evasive | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 18: The discussion over disbanding of Village Defence Committees (VDCs) has been gaining momentum for the last few days and Kashmiri centric leadership under the influence of militant supporters is striving hard to disband the force, but so called nationalist leaders of National Conference hailing from Jammu province are still evasive to queries over this significant issue. Stalwart leaders of NC hailing from Jammu province including provincial president of Jammu Devinder Singh Rana, MLA Surjeet Singh Slathia evaded queries and gave such weird replies. "Tomorrow an all party delegation is visiting Kishtwar. I and Surjeet Singh Slathia are also going there, so after taking stock of the situation at Kishtwar, I will give my opinion", said Devinder Singh Rana. Moreover Surjeet Singh Slathia initially gave an excuse of his busy schedule in a meeting and later said he will speak after visiting Kishtwar. Member of Legislative Council and State Planning Minister Ajay Sadotra said that he was not the spokesperson of NC. "I am neither Home Minister nor spokesperson of NC, so I cannot give any opinion", he said. The words of NC leaders, "Kishtwar Visit Ke Bad Opinion Denge", is pointing towards the dilemma with which NC leaders of Jammu are struggling, whose one word could easily spoil their future goals as their constituencies are in Jammu province, so they are seemingly buying time by giving such excuses. Kishtwar is a place where VDCs had played a pivotal role in wiping out militancy and these VDCs have become eyesore for militants' supporters Kashmiri leaders. Even the police forces are also unambiguously saying that politicians are evasive for taking any concrete step. Now the question arises if NC leaders of Jammu province are calling themselves nationalists and well wishers of minorities, then why they are silent. When they will speak ? Probably when the minorities from Kishtwar will be migrate, or, are wiped out.
