GOM assures action against culprits

KISHTWAR, Aug 18: Stressing on the need of maintenance of communal harmony and brotherhood, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand today said that unity between the Hindu, Muslim and other religion is the strength of the country and added that no one will be allowed to destabilize the peace and tranquility in the state. While addressing the representatives of majority community at DC
office Kishtwar along with three other ministers including RDD Minister Ali Mohammad Sagar, PHE Minister Sham Lal Sharma and CAPD Minister Chowdhary Mohammad Ramzan, Deputy CM said that government of India is capable to deal with both internal and external problem including the militancy, but can not fight alone on communal front. He said that the nation is united to defeat the communal forces who want to divide the country.
He assured the members of the majority community that justice will be done and real culprits will be booked in accordance to the law. He said that due to outbreak of situation in the aftermath of Kishtwar Eid violence in Jammu province, the team of the ministers constituted by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah did not manage to reach Kishtwar on time and apologize for the delayed arrival.
He said that government is committed to provide all possible help to the Kishtwar clashes victim for their rehabilitation. He said that government has already announced the compensation and added that proper assessment of the actual losses is still on. He said that the course of the action against the culprits involved behind the Eid violence will strictly be initiated and said that without considering the party affiliations; guilty will punished and added that nota single person will be spared at any cost.
RDD Minister Ali Mohammad Sargar said that government has already announced the judicial probe into Kishtwar violence and said that MLA Kishtwar Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo while showing his courage has resigned from his ministerial posts to pay way for neat and clean inquiry into Kishtwar clashes. He said that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has given a tuff signal to the trouble shooters and said that the guilty will be taken to the logistic conclusion. All the four ministers urged the people of both the communities to maintain peace and communal harmony. Several speakers from majority community while condemning the Eid violence demanded action against those involved in killing of three persons including Arvind Kumar, Basher Ahmed and Lassa Khandey.
They said that Lassa Khandey and Bashir Ahmed was brutally killed by the mob having patronage of VDC, while blaming the police for killing
Arvind Kumar presuming him as a youth of majority community. All the speakers comes in support of DIG Doda-Kishtwar range Ashkoor Ahmed Wani and Dy. SP Farooq Qaser Malik and opposes any move of their
transfer as was demanded by the representatives of minority community.
They said that Dy. SP played a courageous in controlling the riots and even save the life of two youths of minority community who were caught by the majority community youths and tried to kill them. They also demanded immediate disbanding of VDC, beside arrest of BJP Youth National executive member Sunil Sharma for his alleged role in Eid violence. Some speakers also give clean chit to Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo and termed the acceptance of his resignation by CM Omar Abdullah as injustice with the out going minister. They also demanded reorganization of Kishtwar District with Kashmir valley. Majority community also warned the government over shifting of DC office to new complex constructed at Zelna Kishtwar. A senior National conference leader also criticized the boycotting of Independence Day function by senior Congress leaders and demanded action against those leaders who did not attend the national function. NC leader said that during militancy, he and his associates also faces threat from militants and anti national elements warning them against attending the national function.
He said that defying such threats, he always attended the national day function and linked the Congress leader's boycott of Independent Day function with direct support to separatist agenda. People also raised anti Sunil Sharma slogans and demanded his immediate arrest. Earlier GOM also visited some effected areas along with MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, officials of District administration and police. Meanwhile in another meeting with the members of minoritycommunity late last night, the minorities demanded CBI probe into the arson and loot of their property, Rs 25 lakh compensation for every shop owner and other business establishments burnt, looted and damaged by the miscreants and advocate compensation to deceased Arvind Kumar Bhagat family, inquiry into Eid procession taking Kuleed route for the first time from Hullar, transfer of DIG Ashkoor Wani and Deputy SP Headquarters Farooq Qaiser and incorporating Kishtwar MLA Sajjad Ahmad Kitchloo's name in the FIR registered for rioting They alleged that the police remained a mute spectator to entire barbarism that can be judged from the fact that shops situated less than 10 meters outside police station Kishtwar was looted and burnt by the miscreants.
They alleged that police was acting as per the will of Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo and accuses that police instead of performing their professional duty took allowed burning and looting of the property of minorities. They condemn the demand for disbanding of the VDCs and added that the demand is being pressed at behest of LeT terror outfit and their sympathizers and even did not rule out the hand of Pakistan behind the demand for disbanding the VDCs. They said that with disbanding of VDCs, only militants will be benefited. In his reply, Tara Chand said that the Government has already ordered a judicial probe and has already released Rs 5 lakh relief and job in favor of Arvind Kumar family. He said that the relief would be paid as per the agreement reached between the Government and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry under which a Committee would make assessment of damages in one month. He assured them that he will convey the demand of transfer of the DIG and the Dy. SP to the Chief Minister.
