Sports reporter SRINAGAR, Aug 18: Khazir Royals (KR) today made it a fine 14 runs win against TCI Cheetahs to strengthen their position in the ongoing Jammu and Kashmir Corporate Premier League (JKCPL) at Beijbehara, here. Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, KR set a target of 148 runs for six, which, in reply, TCI could not chase and completed their quota of overs for 133 runs for seven wickets. Sajad Sofi played fine innings of 55 runs while Jalil Bhat contributed 26 runs. From TCI, Manik Gupta emerged as most successful bowler who took four wickets, followed by Pawan Negi and Warris with two wickets each. Later, TCI could not maintain the required run rate and exhausted their quota of 20 overs for 133 runs losing seven wickets. Umar Nisar and Pawan Negi were main contributors to the total with 52 and 26 runs in their respective accounts. From KR, Samiullah Beigh remained most successful bowler with three wickets while Arshid Sheikh bagged two. For his crucial bowling spell, Samiullah was adjudged man of the match while maximum sixes of the match title went to Sajad Sofi. Meanwhile, in another league tie of the day, Saifco Lions registered a 29 runs win over Tramboo Panthers. Earlier, Saifco made 148 runs, which, in reply, Tramboo Panthers could not chase and bowled out for 119 runs in 18.2 overs. Zahid Dar made highest 50 runs while Imtiyaz Ahmed contributed 25 runs. For Saifco Lions, Rohit Sharma took four wickets, followed by Umar Alam and Suhail Andleeb, who claimed two wickets each.
