| JSM condemns Omar's assertions on national leaders | | 8 'He is trying to hide his own failure' | | et report Jammu, Aug 18: Jammu State Morcha (JSM) President Prof Virender Gupta has condemned the criticism of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah of national leaders of the country for showing duplicity in their approach towards issue like Kishtwar. Omar had during Independence Day speech alleged that the national leaders treat differently the similar incidents happening elsewhere in the country. He blamed the national leadership of having biased approach while dealing with Kishtwar like matters differently in Jammu and Kashmir state and said that this has lead to the isolation of Kashmiri people and dragged them away from the national main stream. Reacting to Omar's assertions, Gupta said, "In fact he is trying to hide his own failure in controlling the situation. He did not involve army in controlling the miscreants and anti-national forces at appropriate time and thus gave them a free hand to go on rampage, burning and looting shops and houses, buses, vehicles and assaulting the residents. Whether it was deliberate on his part or not, requires a probe?" "What makes him to tell lie to the leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj that army has been called and the situation is quite under control in the mid of that day," he asked. The JSM members who met under Gupta here expressed the opinion that what Omar Abdullah is saying is quite contrary to the facts and 'his statement has come out of frustration as he is losing even for their own failures and omissions. Kashmiri leadership is wholly solely responsible for building anti- India mindset of Kashmiri masses. This is in spite of the fact that they always demanded differential and preferential treatment for Jammu and Kashmir State vis-a-vis rest of the states in the country in all matters whether these are political, financial or administrative," they claimed. The JSM members reiterated its demand for providing adequate compensation to the families of the deceased, those injured, whose houses are burnt and destroyed and to those who lost their sources of lively hood as per the loss suffered with a minimum limit of 20 lakh to each businessman. The JSM leaders warned that any attempt to abolish Village Defence Committees or weaken them shall be suicidal for the security in the far flung areas. Others present in the meeting included H B Khajuria, Nathu Ram Gupta, Devender Singh Jamwal, Chandra Uday Sharma, B M Kohli, R C Gupta, Vishav Bhandu Gupta, Uttam Chand and Shaahank Chaudhary. |
